Happy Halloween!

Unfortunately we're going to miss the Jacksons' famous Halloween party this year (2007 2008 2009). We have managed to do some fun Holloween activities this week though. Like making spider decorations for Claire's tree, turning Nicholas into a mummy, making a cool skeleton and pumpkin window display out of gel stickers and A LOT of drawing.

Here's Nicholas' Halloween picture. See if you can find a witch complete with a broom, a wand, a cat and a potjie, 4 vampire bats, 4 pumpkins, 4 spiders, 7 flies and a skeleton. What really strikes me is the attention to detail especially the things that come in families of 4 (a dadda, a mamma, a boytjie and a babba according to the budding little artist). You've gotta love it!

When Nicholas draws - which is often - then Daniel wants to draw too. It's one of his favourite activities at the moment. I think his scribbles are very artistic indeed and so does he. Nicholas' said that Danny drew fireworks. I think he might be right!

Bye-Bye! We're off to Tenerife for a week!

Disney on Ice

Last sunday we had a very exciting day indeed. First we caught the train to Waterloo and wandered around the South Bank. As I've mentioned before, in our world, that's the heart of London. We love spending time there soaking up the atmosphere. The boys always enjoy a ride on the old-school carousel, they recognise the buskers and take great pride in pointing out the landmarks. From there we hopped on the Thames Clipper, and as you can imagine, Nicholas thought the high speed catamaran was totally awesome, especially when we went under Tower Bridge. Our destination was the O2 Arena to watch Disney on Ice. It was spectacular and we enjoyed it as much as the kids did!

Holland

A couple of weekends ago we decided that it was high time we went to visit our friends in Holland. We caught the overnight ferry there on thursday night and the afternoon ferry back on monday afternoon. The kids didn't even realise that they were on a boat until we woke them up in the morning to disembark. On the way back we did all kinds of nice and relaxing things including sitting on the deck in the sunshine. The weather was awesome all weekend. Dare I say better than the summer in England. So we spent a lot of time outdoors. We stayed with the De Munniks and as usual it was great to spend some time with them. Nicholas made it very clear that Dylan is his friend, Travis is Daniel's friend, Marko is Dad's friend and Jill is mom's friend. Funny to see how his brain is working things out. On the whole the boys got on very well and had loads of fun together. We also got to see some of other other old friends, that we haven't seen for years, which was great. It's always fun to hook up with old friends especially when they also have kids. How times have changed!
