Daniel's first week

Daniel regained his birth weight in one week. I'm really pleased because it means feeding is going well and that our hungry boy is satisfied. At the moment we're on a bit of a snack and snooze routine but I figure that he'll only be newborn for such a short time so I might as well spoil him a bit.

Upon advice from the hospital and the midwife we only bathed Daniel after a week. He did not enjoy his first bath very much but he loved the pampering afterwards.

Everyone always makes some or other comment about how fast newborn babies change. It's definitely true. In just one week Daniel has started looking around and responding to our voices. Sometimes he almost looks excited.

Welcome to the World

We're proud to announce the arrival of our son

Daniel Sebastian

Born on thursday the 11th June 2009 at 14h58
At Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in London
Weighing in at a whopping 4.25kg / 9lb6oz and measuring 55cm

I was hoping for a natural birth this time around but it is probably just as well the doctors advised me to have a c-section at 41 weeks. Daniel is a big baby with his weight, height and head circumerence all around the 91st percentile. Below are some photos of his first 2 days in hospital.

Waiting patiently

... or should I say anxiously for the new baby to arrive. Nicholas definitely knew that there was a baby in my tummy, he often used to give my big belly a hug and a kiss, but I'm not sure whether he expected the baby to come out and stay. Here are some photos from a few of weeks ago of the two of us enjoying a long sunny evening in Bishops Park.

New Chapter

Those of you who were regular followers of our website www.martinandfaye.com would have noticed that we stopped updating it when Nicholas turned two in November last year. The reason was basically that we were having too much fun during our two month holiday in South Africa and since then life has been too hectic to catch up.

Due to popular demand we've finally started a blog! The new chapter in our lives seemed like a perfect opportunity to kick off!

This is one of my favourite photos of our little family when there were still only three of us (taken in Cape Town in February 2008):
