Pick your own

There are a whole host of 'pick your own' farms close to London. We chose to visit Garsons Farm, not far from us in Surrey. It was a great day out and we'll definitely be going back there again. Trust Gogo to come all the way from Magogong only to join us on this kind of outing. At least we had expert advice when selecting what to pick. It was a great day out and we ended up with quite a collection of fruit and vegetables. Luckily Gogo was here to teach us to make jam with the strawberries and raspberries we couldn't eat too!

Stick Figures

The other day we had some fun making stick figures using pipe cleaners and foil. I loved watching the boys playing with their creations afterwards - each figure had it's own voice and the conversations between them were fantastic - all in all a doubly creative activity!

Pond Dipping

Last weekend we took Gogs to see the London Wetlands Center. After an eventful encounter with a black swan, a lot of exploring, fun in the water themed playground (Gogo even managed to convince the boys to go on the zipline or foofee slide if you're from SA) we ended our visit off with a bit of pond dipping. It was great fun especially when someone else caught an actual real live newt (one of the few animals that start with an N - why didn't I take a photo?)!

Best Granny in the Playground

One thing I admire about Gogo is that she immerses herself totally when she puts her mind to it. Not only that but she pushes the kids to do things on the edge of their comfort zone. My biggest worry is that they are going to expect me to go up there when she's gone!

Richmond Park

The day Gogo arrived we took her to Richmond Park. It still felt a bit like summer then but not anymore. We went for a walk, a bike ride, also a wade in the stream, tracked down some deer, fed the ducks, collected fire wood and finally had a picnic. It was a marvelous day as Nicholas put it!
