SA2011: Ox Wagon Mountain
Just behind the house is the path leading up to the Ox Wagon Mountain. Last year Nicholas managed to go 1/4 of the way up. This year we decided to pace ourselves on Nick again, hoping to make the half way mark, but we made it 3/4 of the way up. I was so impressed with my little guy's stamina and determination. Also with Dad's strength because he did the hike with Danny on his shoulders. Maybe next year we will make the summit!

SA2011: The Escarpment
The Escarpment is on the far edge of Klaas' farm where Mpumalanga drops away into KZN. It's an ambitious hike for small feet so it's not one we often embark on now that we have kids. But, my oh my, the spectacular views from the edge are well worth it. Hopefully in a few years time we'll be able to go all the way to the waterfalls that drop off the edge and then make our way all the way to the bottom. What a magnificent place!

SA2011: Oshoek Waterfall
This is definitely our favourite hike on Klaas' farm. It holds very special memories for Dad because he has been going there since he was a wee boy. Even Oumie used to go there when she was a child. This time Dad took the boys for their first ever dip in the icy cold water. He and Nicholas even had a shower under the waterfall. Very brave indeed!

Another thing that we love about Klaas' farm isall the beautiful grass and veld flowers. Oumie used to love them too. Whenever we go there we always collect an arrangement of grass and flowers for her grave. It's the perfect setting for us to remember her and tell the boys all sorts of stories about their beloved grandmother that they will never know.
