Fungi Foray

A couple of weeks later we went on another outing to Winkworth together.  This time the occasion was a fungi foray.  The guide was very knowledgeable about mushrooms and toadstools. We literally spent hours wandering around the forest in search of fungi, and because of the wet weather we were lucky to find a huge selection that day.  I loved seeing my boys learning some new things while they were charging around and exploring the outdoors.  We won't remember all the details of every mushroom we found but we went away knowing that there are hundreds of different kinds, that some are edible and others are poisonous and most importantly that you have to be very careful when handling mushrooms.  The outing was also a good excuse to celebrate my birthday, so a picnic complete with a cake made by my boys, was a perfect end to a perfect day!

More Visitors

We had a lot of excitement in our house for the last 4 days because the De Munniks were visiting us from Holland.  We had a good mixture of usual activities and special outings.  The boys were so excited to see Dylan and Travis again and it was great to see them all getting along so well!
