Daniel's third week

We registered Daniel's birth at the Chelsea and Westminster Town Hall on the 26th June. Lots of people have asked us if he automatically gets a UK passport and the answer is no, only a birth certificate, we've just applied for his SA passport.

Daniel has been getting detailed lessons about all sorts of things, but mostly aeroplanes, from Nicholas. When Big Brother is in the mood he also entertains him with songs, nursery rhymes and stories.

Bath time is going better and better every day. Daniel especially likes soaking in the big bath even if Nicholas is sponging water over his head.

Daniel's favourite burpring position makes us laugh. Sometimes he is so zonked he just passes out.

We've discovered that in addition to on our chests and in our arms Daniel likes sleeping on his tummy and on the couch during the day. Nights are also going a bit better now with a five hour stretch every now and then.

Picnic in Hurlingham Park

Another weekend and another picnic, this time at the Hurlingham Club, thanks to the Beecrofts for the invitation. The good company, delicious food and flowing drinks were accompanied by perfect weather, a glamorous setting and awesome entertainment for the whole family. Daniel behaved beautifully and Nicholas enjoyed all the different rides, the pig races, the marching band and the disco but most of all he loved his tiger face paint.

Picnic in Richmond Park

Last sunday we took advantage of the lovely sunshine and went for a picnic in Richmond Park. We are so lucky to have the vast expanse of nature virtually on the doorstep of our new house. As we entered the park Nicholas exclaimed " Grass, Mommy, grass everywhere". We found a idyllic spot under some trees next to a dam that came complete with swans, ducks and coots. Nicholas had a ball and Daniel enjoyed his first picnic.

Nicholas - Month 31

Nicholas is still as adorable as ever. He is truly an awesome kid with a striking personality. Daniel's birth seems to have enhanced his character a bit - or maybe it is just because he is two and half now - he has become more opinionated, more boistrous, more confident, more bossy, more cheeky, funnier and cleverer. Here are some of my favourite photos of him from the past month.

Gogo

We're thrilled to have my mom visiting us for 5 weeks. She has single handedly landscaped our garden and cleaned our new house. More importantly Nicholas is having the time of his life with her and she has the magic touch with Daniel. We love you Gogo!

Daniel's second week

Everyone says Daniel is such a big baby and I suppose according to the statistics he is but to us he still feels so tiny and delicate. Here is some proof that he is indeed still very small.

Nicholas is proving to be a very gentle and caring big brother. When Daniel cries he tries singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and offers him his little finger to hold and if that fails he calls for me and makes it clear that "Baby Daniel just wants you mommy".

Daniel is so adorable it is hard to resist taking photos of him even if he is just sleeping.

He sleeps a lot (although it doesn't always feel like it especially at night). One thing is for sure he prefers sleeping in our arms (it's hard to resist even though we know it can be a slippery slope).

Proud parents!
