Lazy days are the best

Sometimes we do have lazy days with nothing planned.  One such Saturday we bumped into Dave, Tamsin and Gigi at the duck pond in Barnes.  We grabbed some snacks and drinks from the farmers market and had a picnic together.  The boys had a ball 'taking care' of Gigi!

Lovely Gigi

Later that day Danny insisted that it was a nice day for a braai, and it was, so we let him do the braai on 'his' weber (as he calls our small camping weber). Nicholas just sat by quietly and demolished a book. I love lazy days that are filled with spontaneity!

Fun with friends

Amanda's mom lives in Kent and has this lovely sparkling pool on the property.  While they were staying there with their Granny we went to visit them out in the country.  It was a lovely sun-shiny day so we spent hours in the pool and the lovely garden surrounding it.  The four boys, and the little girl, had an amazing time in the water.  For a moment I forgot that I was in England.  It made me realise how much we miss having a real and private outdoor pool, and lifelong friends at our disposal!

Legoland

Last week we did our annual trip to Legoland and this time Amanda, Jan, Wolf, Max and Mary-Grace were our companions.  The boys picked up where they left off last time and got on like good old friends which was great.  We had a lot of fun doing loads of rides, and it's nice now that the boys are a little bit taller as we can do a lot of the rides together as a family.  And QBOT is awesome, much less queueing, worth every cent.  It was a lovely hot day so the Duplo Valley Splash and Play was probably the favourite part - although both boys will be able to tell you about every single ride in vivid detail.  They definitely are the right age for this sort of place now!

The boys love lego, but then again who doesn't.  Every now and then they get into a frenzy and spend hours constructing things out of these magic little blocks.  These are some old photos I found in my stash from various times in the past few months.  Sometimes they just play with the models that they have built from plan, sometimes I give them a specific task like building a vehicle and once I challenged them to use up all the blocks in order to earn a ticket to Legoland!
