Olympics - Torch

London had an amazing vibe and although it was close to impossible to get reasonably priced tickets for the sporting events there were enough free events to allow us to immerse ourselves in the excitement.  It all started a few weeks before the Olympics with the torch (before we went to SA at the end of July).  One blazing hot day we joined the masses that lined the streets of Wandsworth to cheer on the torch bearers.  We met Olivia and Ernie there and bumped into some other friends too.  The mood was jovial as the kids waved their flags and cheered for the entourage!

Pooped

A few days later we saw it again, this time drifting past on The Royal Barge, on The Thames.  I found it much more tranquil, and enjoyable, watching from Bishops Park.  Although there were far fewer people, the air was still filled with much excitement.  It's always great being involved in epic moments like this!

Nicholas actually got his photograph taken holding the torch a few months before the Olympics at school.  One of the school parents was somehow involved with the torch so he brought it into the school one day and told all the boys about it.  Donhead is really good in that way!
