Cricket Craze

Dad, along with some other sport loving dads from Warriors, took a bunch of their boys to watch England against New Zealand at The Oval.  It was a very exciting game to watch with a nail biting finish.  The boys really enjoyed singing along and getting into the whole 20-20 groove!

Cricket wasn't only a spectator sport for Nicholas this year.  In fact it was his favourite activity during the summer term and summer holidays.  Since it is a summer sport, it dovetails nicely with rugby, which takes a break for the summer.  So our Sunday mornings were spent at the Barnes Cricket Club and during the holidays also Tuesday nights at Old Ruts Cricket Club.  He just couldn't get enough!

As if Sunday morning on the cricket pitch wasn't enough, Nicholas would beg and plead for more bowling, for what seemed like hours on end on Sunday afternoons.  It paid off because he was picked for the U6 A team!

Can you imagine the excitement when we saw his name on for A team?  Usually he is in the B or C team for football and rugby matches at school so this was a welcome surprise.  They played so well.  The bowling was a bit all over the place but the batting and fielding were generally good.  Best of all was the excitement on the boys faces when they made a lot of runs or got someone out.  Maybe that funny remark in one of Nicholas' reports that said he shows talent as a left hand spin bowler will have some meaning after all!
