Heaven in Devon

The Quenets invited us to join them on their summer holiday in Devon. They rented a lovely converted barn - Oakleaf Bower - in a perfect setting literally at the end of the road. The children loved playing in the garden and the adults enjoyed the patio and the games room just as much. We didn't expect good weather but it turned out fantastic which gave us plenty of opportunities to check out the nearby beaches. Watching the kids play in the sand, explore the rock pools and venture into the sea made me realise that we really ought to go to the British beaches more often because they aren't that bad nor very far away. We also did a couple of walks on the farm and along the cliff tops. Our boys loved the idea of 'hiking' and hopefully we'll get to do a lot more of that kind of thing in years to come. It's holidays like these that make lasting memories!
